The Analytics module in Freshservice allows you to generate intuitive reports for your service desk. Integrating Power BI with Freshservice enables you to scale up your analytics with extensive dashboards and reports to drive business results using actionable insights.

How to Schedule an Export on Freshservice’s Analytics

In order to schedule a data export,

  • ### Log into your Freshservice account and click on Analytics from the left sidebar.
  • ### Inside Analytics, click on the settings icon  on the bottom left corner and select Data Exports.
  • ### Click on the Create Export option present on the top right corner to schedule a data export.
  • ### \#\#\# Add the export name and the module name. Let’s say you wish to schedule a data export for the Changes module. Select changes from Module Name. \#\#\# Choose the scheduling interval. It can be hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. \#\#\# Use the view and the Basic filter option to filter the data you wish to export.

  • ### You can choose the fields that have to be exported.
  • ### Select whether you want the export as an email or as an API link. The API URL will hold the link to the export file. Feeding the API URL into your BI tool will allow it to automatically fetch data from Freshservice.  Note: The API URL will include the base URL generated during signup, even if you have set up a custom domain.
  • ### Once done, click Save.

    • How to Integrate Power BI with Freshservice Analytics

    Step 1: From Freshservice’s Analytics module, copy the API URL that holds the link to export the file.

    Use “https” and your default Freshservice URL in the API URL. Power BI does not authenticate if the API URL contains the cname or ‘http’.

    Step 3: In the From Web window, paste the Freshservice API URL in the URL field and click on OK.

    Step 4: Use your FS User’s API key in the User name field (leave the password empty) and click on Connect.

    Click on your profile on the top right corner in Freshservice and click on Profile Settings. You can find your API key on the right panel.

    You will now receive your Freshservice data export file. You can use this file as your data source and start building reports in Power BI.

    How to export this report:

    To export the report, please copy and paste the provided "API URL" into your browser. Kindly note if the API URL contains the Cname ( if it does not contain yourdomain.freshservice.com) have it replaced with your Freshservice URL. This will initiate the download of the CSV file.
