How to restrict visibility of Service Catalog Items based on User Groups
``` Note: This feature works the same across all Freshservice products. Some screenshots or articles may reflect older designs, but the functionality remains unchanged. If certain options do not appear in your account, they may not be included in your current plan. ```
Customizing your end-user portal's UI enhances customer satisfaction. Avoid frustrating users with irrelevant options by tailoring the Service Catalog in Freshservice/FSBT. For example, designers see Photoshop, while operations personnel don't. Each workspace manages its services, with categories and items arranged as needed.
Click here to understand how to configure the service catalog. Every workspace can maintain its own list of service items. The order of workspace service categories displayed in the support portal follows the order in which workspaces are created. The order of service categories and items within a workspace can be configured at a workspace level.
Customizing the Service Catalog based on the users’ 'Department' and 'Job Title' involves doing 3 things
Step 1: Specify the Department and the Job Title for the User (Requester).
``` Note: You can add more departments under Admin > User Management > Departments section ```
Step 2: Create a User Group and specify the Departments/Job Titles it should include.

Step 3: Specify the User Groups a given Service will be made available.

As you scale up, all new Requesters will be added to the relevant groups automatically based on their ‘Department’ and ‘Job Title’.
``` Note: User groups can be created based on the location, language, time zone, reporting manager and other dropdown fields of a user. For example, If a certain service item such as Arabic keyboard is available only to people whose language is Arabic and are located in Dubai, such a setup can be easily achieved with requester group created with the location as Dubai and language as Arabic. ```
